This outdoor gathering space, named after Kanonhsyonne (Janice Hill), provides the campus community a place to make connections, feel grounded, and learn more about Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
Scarborough Charter
Queen ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ ’s has joined 40 universities and colleges across Canada as a signatory of the Scarborough Charter — a sector-wide agreement designed to move post-secondary institutions beyond rhetoric and to more meaningful, concrete actions to address anti-Black racism and to promote Black inclusion.
Declaration of commitment to address systemic racism
In August 2020, Principal Patrick Deane set forth the university ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ ’s commitment to address systemic racism as it exists within the institution. Co-signed by more than twenty of Queen ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ ’s senior leaders, the Declaration of Commitment to Address Systemic Racism acknowledged the need for the campus community to understand and confront structural prejudices, pledging to undertake a range of actions.
Advocacy Coalition Mural
A new outdoor mural has been be installed outside the ¹ú²ú´«Ã½ Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC). This is a joint commission by the student-led and the Office of the Principal.
