Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 community sets record in United Way campaign

Faculty, staff, and retirees donate more than $492,000, in support of programs across the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington area.

国产传媒 国产传媒 鈥檚 annual campaign for the United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington raised a record $492,283, surpassing its fundraising goal.

鈥淲e are grateful for the continued support, especially from those joining the campaign for the first time,鈥 says James Ligthart, chair of the Queen's United Way Committee. 鈥淎mid challenging economic times, the Queen's community set a new record for the university and the Kingston region, raising more than $490,000.鈥

Community impact

Donations from Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 support more than 71,000 people, aiding programs that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including no poverty, zero hunger, gender equality, and quality education.

The overall campaign raised $4.05 million, exceeding its target of $3.95 million.

鈥淭he funds raised will make a tangible difference for people in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, providing essential resources to many in need,鈥 says Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane, who also serves on the United Way KFL&A campaign cabinet. 鈥淏eyond financial contributions, Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 community members demonstrate a commitment to compassion and to having an impact.鈥

Making a difference

The United Way KFL&A works with local partners to address critical needs such as food security, mental health and addiction support, and homelessness.

Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 staff, faculty, and retirees lead the region 国产传媒 鈥檚 largest workplace and retiree campaign, contributing more than 10 per cent of the overall goal each year. According to a Deloitte report, the Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 community raises more than $1 million annually for local causes, with students contributing thousands of volunteer hours.
