Karlyn Roberts has been hired by Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 as the new manager of the Western Regional Office based in Calgary.
鈥淎s a Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 alumna and parent, I am very excited to take on this role and look forward to representing the university, alumni, and students,鈥 says Karlyn. 鈥淨ueen 国产传媒 鈥檚 reputation for producing outstanding graduates and the school 国产传媒 鈥檚 enduring spirit of initiative is what attracted me to this opportunity. As Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 moves towards its 175th birthday, I am proud to be part of an institution that is transforming and positioning itself for a 21st-century world.鈥
She joins the university 国产传媒 鈥檚 Office of Advancement after a 15-year career with the Calgary Herald advertising department, where she most recently held the title of senior advertising sales manager.
Karlyn 国产传媒 鈥檚 duties include engaging with alumni and supporting the university 国产传媒 鈥檚 Initiative Campaign. The fundraising campaign, which concludes in 2016, seeks to raise at least $500 million.
Calgary is an important city to Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 because it is home to more than 4,200 Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 alumni. It has one of the 国产传媒 Alumni Association 国产传媒 鈥檚 largest and most active branches outside of Ontario.
鈥淐algary and Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 have enjoyed a special relationship for many years. Despite the distance from Kingston, the Calgary Branch has been the glue that keeps us all connected," says Tom Hewitt, Chief Development Officer at Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚. 鈥淜arlyn will continue the tradition of great service on behalf of Queen's that her predecessor, Jim Campbell, performed so ably.鈥
Karlyn 国产传媒 鈥檚 responsibilities extend beyond the Calgary area. She will also work with Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 alumni and students from all across Western Canada, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Regina, and Saskatoon.
Karlyn graduated from Queen 国产传媒 鈥檚 with an honours BA in political studies. She also has a Master 国产传媒 鈥檚 degree in Communications Studies from the University of Calgary.
